Meet Jeff Sessions

In 1986, Jeff Sessions was rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee for a seat on the federal judiciary because of a history of racially insensitive remarks and a poor civil rights record.

In 2009, he became ranking member of the committee, charged with helping to oversee the confirmation of judicial nominations from the nation's first black president.
