V-E day occurred on May 8, 1945, marking the formal acceptance of German surrender by Allied forces. The surrender the following day of German forces in the Channel Islands marked the end of World War 2 in Europe.

 

This photograph comes from the collection of Major Sylvester F. Crynes, who was a pathologist with the 217th General Hospital.
