Indonesia, Jawa Barat, Kabupaten Cianjur, Mariwati
My tailor-made KOCMO single speed bike on the Mariwati road from Pacet to Cikalong Kulon. I got it 4 years ago and it's still my favourite vehicle on earth. On that day it celebrated its 14,000th kilometer and its 150,000th meter of climbing. And it had got a pair of silver-grey Vittoria cross tyres as a birthday present. Words can't describe how wonderful it is to ride on these tyres, especially on a rough road like this. A flying carpet comes to mind. And they look cool, too.
My old friend, "der Jupp" rode with me on a mountain bike, but this one was more manoeuvrable and faster, even on very bad roads and in slippery mud.
The plantations in the background, I don't know what they are. "Der Jupp", who knows Indonesia 100 times better than I, suspected they may be salak. A delicious little fruit that only grows in Indonesia. If you want to know why some people call it "snake fruit" just klick here. Could also be palm oil, I think.
