I look forward to the day that I can walk by all of this as a ruin—like the old, defunct tire factories of Akron. They are ugly now and probably will be even uglier in their decay, yet I hope they will remain as a reminder of our toil in energy's history. And who knows, perhaps they will take on a certain redeeming beauty in their demise and intricacy. Whatever the case, I just hope their ability to function ceases soon as a result of better energy solutions. For now, it's off to Subway.
