1-175th Infantry Freedom Salute Ceremonies

More than 200 members of the Maryland National Guard were officially welcomed home during Freedom Salute ceremonies held across the state of Maryland, July 14 and 15, after their year-long deployment to the Sinai Peninsula.

While deployed, the Maryland National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment was part of the Multinational Force and Observers. The unit was assigned to one of three line battalions conducting operations throughout the peninsula alongside comparable battalions from Columbia and Fiji. Their mission was to man remote observation posts and checkpoints throughout the peninsula as part of the Camp David Accords.
