F/A-18F Super Hornet

New blog entry on the air show!

It's two for Tuesday with a pair of fighter shots. These are from the air show I attended at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. This was my first time shooting an air show. It was quite a challenge to capture such fast moving objects! I turned on image stabilization on the lens I was using since I was zooming out to 400mm for some shots (I borrowed a 100-400mm lens). For the jets, I set the lens to f5.6 and my ISO to 200 which gave me shutter speeds necessary to catch these fast aircraft. This fighter was very tough to capture because it was so fast and it was literally all over the sky.

I captured in RAW and converted the file in Lightroom. In Photoshop, I used Nik Color Efex Tonal Contrast to bring out some shadow detail (the angle of sun made these shots even tougher!) Nik Dfine was used for noise reduction.

Hit 'L' for large!!!
