Raftsman's View of the Wisconsin River.
In 1887, the Arpin family of Grand (later Wisconsin) Rapids sent a fleet of lumber rafts down the Wisconsin River during the spring high water. Near Wisconsin Dells they were joined by photographer H.H. Bennett, who documented their life as they passed through the Dells and on to the Mississippi River. Raftsman's View is a booklet containing a series of engravings based on those photographs. Items are in the order they appeared in the booklet, with four additional items showing activity at Grand Rapids (Wisconsin Rapids) Wisconsin in 1874.
