India - Sights & Culture - Common garbage dump outside a temple

    Newer Older

A common and sad sight of garbage strewn thoughtlessly on the street and dump around this collection point. Goats, dogs, cows and other animals root through it, consuming plastic along with leftover food. Such piles and unofficial dumps line most streets, urban and rural.

This appears to be a slow swell of change on the horizon however, as communities, governments and NGOs slowly taking responsibility for waste and no longer accepting polluted, unhealthy streets. But such social change is not rapid.
