1928 Wanamaker Diary
At the start of 1928, my grandmother was an 11-year-old girl living in Coatesville, PA. Her father ran a bakery. A year or two later in the midst of the Depression they would lose everything.

Now 95, she gave me her diary to go through. Like most kids, she started off strong but then by March she was done telling us how her day went.

The Wanamaker Diary was an information-packed bound volume that contained over 100 pages of advertisements, trivia, theater seating charts and more. I've found references on the web to New York-based Wanamaker Diaries but this one is based in Philadelphia and the original John Wanamaker's store.

Inside, my grandmother still had the original separate "Map of Philadelphia also Car and Bus Routes to Wanamaker's"
