Victoria - "Pacific Grace" at Point Hope Shipyard

Drawn for the Opus Art Supplies "Outdoor Painting Challenge" in Victoria, April 21, 2012.

I chose to draw not paint, as I thought there wasn't enough time for something this large (the 16" x 20" board was provided by Opus).

It took me 2 hours to scout a location within the geographic boundary given, I did do a smaller pencil thumbnail sketch to start with, so I had about 2-1/4 hours to do this.

I thought it was a good composition, a ship bounded within a steel cage cradle with the shipyard and opposite shoreline in the background.

Was a fantastic day for drawing, so a fun exercise.

I've got to start to learn how to paint so I can do a painting next year!
