Sand Mandala being made by Tibetan Monks at Victoria Art Gallery

The monks were doing mandalas up and down the west coast that summer.

They spend hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours painstakingly "drawing" the mandalas in coloured sand, then they are simply destroyed.

This symbolizes life's impermanence.
