11/7/2008: Today I got word this image was chosen as photo of the week for Flickr's Best Landscape Photographers (www.flickr.com/groups/830711@N25/). I truly feel humbled and appreciative of the honor because of the incredibly high caliber of photography in the pool.
Just returned from twelve days wandering in and around Glacier National Park. Snow still clogged much of the high country, so this trip stayed in subalpine terrain below the high passes and peaks. No matter, I've seen very few places that offer such in your face views right from the trailheads. Got to get back for the high country another time.
This shot is taken from Swiftcurrent Lake in the uber-popular Many Glacier area. Sunrise comes early this time of year and it took extreme effort to drag myself out of a a down bag at 4:30 am. Once up it was great to be moving around in the morning quiet without throngs of people during the most beautiful part of the day.
