Studio 414 Contest Winner!
I was shocked and ecstatic to learn that my photo was selected as the grand prize winner for the Studio 414 "One World Photography" contest!
So I entered the contest back in March but due to flagging participation (read: we can't cover our costs) the submissions dates were extended... a lot. I'd pretty much given up on it until I received an email from a stranger warning me that someone had won the contest by stealing my photo!
I popped on over to the winners page and lo, there was my image and a message asking for the photographer "Ray" to contact them about the prize.
Well, apparently during the judging, the image was separated from the submission data! Ray is my god-father who's IN the picture... the filename was titled Ray_Lakeside.jpg. Thus the confusion.
Apparently there was a veritable flurry of email sent to the contest email alerting them to potential piracy...
I am very moved that not one, but MANY people went out of their way to google the image, find out it was me who'd shot it, and jump on what they perceived to be copyright violation. To everyone who took the time to right the wrong (honest mistake though it was), BIG HIGH FIVES! Solidarity, baby! I will endeavor to do the same for you if I'm ever in the position.
Long story short, I have been in contact with the Studio 414 reps and everything is on the up-and-up!
So far, Studio 414 = not a scam.
