This is an excerpt from my MAD DOLLS feature for the March/April 2010 issue of Haute Doll Magazine (www.hautedoll.com) featuring fashions by Natalia Sheppard, diorama and miniature furniture by Carolyn Allen, and Barbie repaints by Vin Trapani, who did the Silkstone Barbie Continental Holiday as Peggy Olsen (Joan is played by an untouched Dusk to Dawn whose hair I custom restyled). Mandatory Photo Credit: Michael Williams/mawphoto.com for Haute Doll Magazine

I'll be adding new images (a couple per day) starting this week, including NEVER BEFORE SEEN outtakes and the entire Don Draper office diorama.

Enjoy!

EXCELLENT CATCH, vintagemimosa--surprised they didn't call it the Joan instead of the Ava, considering the redheaded model perfectly channeling Christina Hendrick's character from Mad Men, but I suppose they don't want to get caught in an outright copyright infringement? Not sure if the one Joan wore was by costume designer Janie Bryant or a vintage piece she may have sourced from a vintage costume shop. Would love to find out!

Everyone else, thank you, Natalia may not have auctioned this off yet on ebay, so keep an eye on her FLICKR account:

..I am not quite sure but this dress may have been before MadMen. But I dont know. At least its sold out from Pinup Couture and it usually means it hasnt been made for a while. And on eof Finnish friend has this dress, has had couple of years. When this dress was in MadMen? Just curious..

To me it looks very much like the dresses are at least partly real vintage. You just cant beat the feeling and cant get it to reproduction, even if made by pros. Its something to do with sewing threads and years, the fabric has been hangin...I cant explaing it but seen in many times.

In all this vintage-madness of mine I forgot to say: EXCELLENT PIC! So real-life xxx :) !
