Doll Face Mirror Lipsticks by Max Factor

Newer Older

Ever wonder the real inspiration for vintage TNT mod Barbie's little paper handmirrors with the painted lady faces? Turns out they were marketed by Max Factor, as shown in this advertisement from a SEVENTEEN magazine with Twiggy on the cover. Can you guess the date/issue???

i wish i knew the date - i'd guess 1966 sometime ... whenever it was they are adorable and what a great idea, certainly worth 'borrowing' :)

Human-sized clothes hangers and other accessories with similar faces were also sold during the mid-60s. The hanger "faces" were shaped like those in the ad but had a hanging hook that folded down behind the head, and "shoulders" that you could hang an outfit on.

Wow! I found one of those mirrors recently. It didn't have the coordinating lipstick tube. I wish I had both pieces.
