Sun Stalking

The weather has been summer-time hot of late. 90F+ temperatures with humidity around 50%.

Dripping wet and hot.

I walk by this corn field, when I make the circuit in Centennial Park, at least once if not twice a week. As it happened yesterday, I was late in getting outside. Before I knew it, the sun and temperatures had climbed into the stratosphere. I took my advice and put off the walk until nearer sunset.

At this point in my walk, I'm about half-way through a two-mile loop. I've been taking pictures of the corn fields as they grow up. The main lot of corn stalks are just above my head now. If the rain hold back much more, their progress will be stunted and the farmers will be as stressed as their corn.

The sun was just about to dip below the trees, after I had taken my regular corn photographs. I couldn't resist, and fired off this one frame, to capture the sun, the way the sky is turning color and the reflection in the stalks of corn.

A typical prairie summer sunset view.
