Grazing

In the pasture, a foal is out in the afternoon, grazing for sustenance in the green pasture.

I'm drawn to horses for their beauty, their grace and their mostly gentle strength. It helps that I grew up with our home situated directly next to a horse operation. I was afraid of their big teeth, that they'd bite my fingers off. Likely that image was put in my head by one of my older siblings, being the family of teases that each of us is. My fingers are intact, and my affection for horses likewise.

One day,, while I was coming home from a far-flung corner of our rural area, I took the long way home, as is my want to do when the mood strikes me. That took me by this pasture, with several horses out for the afternoon graze. I stopped the car and isolated this one for my only clear view of a whole body. The pasture was sloping towards the road. and most of the herd were by the lower fence.

A peaceful scene.
