Inside the Cleo General Store in Kimble County, Texas, seemingly untouched since 1974 (Picture A Day September 15, 2009)
Going from the outside the Cleo General Store (which was the Picture A Day yesterday, September 14th), to peeking inside. Now all boarded up, looking through one of the cracks at what is left from the decades past. The Cleo General Store was the center of the small community from the 1920's until it closed for good in 1974. If you zoom in closely on the calendar in the center of the photograph, you'll see it is from October 1974 -- from all appearances the contents of this boarded-up building have remained largely untouched for nearly 35 years! The window in back is the old post office - there are old-style PO boxes, some still with undelivered envelopes in them. Who knows what other treasures are hidden away in this forgotten corner of the world?
