Rapid Cumulous Buildup
I watched this storm go from a puffy little cloud to a monster tower with a huge anvil top at it's front, dumping 1-1/4" sized hail and shooting lightning across the landscape. From genesis to monster it only took an hour.
This was the midpoint where it was getting bigger, but hadn't finished growing yet… in fact this was the last image I could take of this giant with the 11mm lens I had on me.
I found the scene before me to be quite nice and pastural like, with the storm light adding a sunset hue to the horizon to contrast the blue sky.
