The Bixby Bridge
The Bixby Bridge of Big Sur. After waiting for a very long period of time in the middle of the night for a car to pass, Miguel (Amigo!) and I decided to use his car to create the light trails you see here, but as he was about to pull onto the highway, a car came by so I got two sets of tail lights , and then Miguels headlights on his way back from around the bend.
The next morning, the car was no more…
at 9:30 am as we rounded a corner at about 45 mph, we saw a car crossing over to the pull off on the opposite shoulder of the road (on our side), but as soon as she saw us she hit her brakes… unfortunately she decided to stop in our lane facing us. As soon as Miguel understood that she wasn't going to move he hit his brakes and swerved but as soon as we got close she hit the gas and hard! This resulted in a partial head on collision that sent both cars spinning after the impact. The safety measures such as the air bags and locking shoulder straps failed to respond which sent me flying into the dashboard with some force. Somehow however everyone, including the lady escaped without any great injury. I do feel like I fought a boxing match with Sugar Ray Leonard and lost, but considering everything, I think we got away far better than we should have.
Below in the first comment box is a pic of the aftermath. Miguel's car is definitely Totaled. We are sore but not Totaled… we just have whiplash… my ribs are bruised, and my favorite lenses are broken… I guess that is better than plunging over a cliff or any other scenario that could have resulted from this accident.
This is why I always say a prayer before I travel. I'm glad to be home with my wife and kids tonight. It feels extra good to be with them.
