Titan II Silo Flame Deflector
12 December 2009. At the Titan Missile Museum / Site 571-7, Sahuarita, AZ.
The concrete wedge at the bottom of the silo (150 feet below ground) deflects the flames and exhaust into vents on the surface. (The "clouds" are actually just sunlight from the surface.)
Zeiss 21mm/2.8 ZF.2 Distagon (@ f/2,8), Nikon D3s camera (@ ISO 12800); available light, handheld.
No emulsions were harmed in the making of this image.
