on grasmere lake, washington park, denver, co
I went on a great ride today on my Rivendell Quickbeam singlespeed. I rambled all over, paved/gravel paths and on streets, on a ride totalling about 40 miles. A bit more than mid-way, I was in Washington Park. I stopped to paint this scene, which I've painted at least twice before.
I love the illustrations of Frank Patterson, who is one of the great pen & ink artists of yesteryear (or any year). His work very often included bicycles, since he did illustrations for bicycling magazines at the turn of the century and beyond. Anyway, I've been itching to include a bicycle in a sketch, and today was the day. Well, it's no Frank Patterson, but it will have to do :-).
I just realized I this is my 203rd drawing/sketch/painting upload, so I broke 200 yesterday, I think. I began uploading Feb of last year, when I started working on my art again. That's a pretty good average, though not close to every day.
Fine marker and a mix of artist's watercolor applied with a tiny Koi waterbrush in a 5x7" ProArt watercolor sketchpad (140lb CP).
