Ring-Tailed Lemur enjoying the nice spring weather
This cute little gal decided to come out and enoy the nice spring weather.
This zoo has an open enclosure where ring-tailed lemurs and black and white ruffed lemurs run around freely among the visitors. They are very curious and nosy, often climbing into bag, strollers and hand carts. But usually they prefer to just sit in a tree or in a grass and observe the visitors. Some times it feels like you are the exhibit and the lemurs are the observers.
Ríng-tailed lemurs are strepsirrhine primates that are endimic to Madagascar, just like all other kinds of lemurs. Their striped tail easily makes them the most recognizable of all lemur species.
On the IUCN Red List ring-tailed lemurs are listed as endangered. The biggest threats are the illegal pet trade and deforestation.
