Calico Pennant - female

Celithemis elisa

I was stunned when I saw the male of this species during our hike at Higbee's Beach near Cape May, NJ. We were tracking a warbler that sadly got away, and I looked down to see the male. When we went further down the path, I noticed these bright yellow beauties. I assumed that they had to be related, and I was right - the yellow variety was the female.

And it's hard to figure out which was more beautiful.
