Kościół Polska

when: june 2011

with: Bart

It's wednesday evening and we both have the rest of the week off. Now it's a matter of driving 1000 km towards Poland in one evening.

Is that possible? Yes it is. The weather is not to good, it rains heavily and the roads are very busy with traffic. When it gets dark mist appears. Far from the ideal situation, but we made it.

After some hours of sleep we wake up to another rainy summer day. We heading for Kościół Polska. A beautiful abandoned wooden church in Poland, designed by the architect Carl Gotthard Langhans in 1796/1797.

Outside it rains, inside it rains too. The wind is blowing strong and the whole building is squeaking and creaking. All the pillars inside are made of wood. This building is in a very bad state and I don't feel to comfortable in here in this bad weather.

I guess it's a matter of time, or snow on the roof during the winter, that will bring this beauty down.

I'm glad I've been able to visit this awesome location before that will happen.
