L'école de médecine vétérinaire
People who have visited this school for veterinarians before us told us we should find our way in really early in the morning, say between 04.00 and 5.00 am. We thought we could make it a little later...so we left Amsterdam at 09.00. It's a 2 hour drive and the three of us all had a monstruous hangover from partying the night before.
Somewhere around 11.00 we take the exit from the motorway into Brussels. Only to be stopped 500 meters further along by the cops. It appeared to be carless sunday, so the whole city is free of any cars. We tried telling the cops that we should pick somebody up, but no luck. We had to park the car and walk. It's a nice and warm sunday. But walking 5 kilometers in the heat with a headbanging hangover and a heavy backpack is no fun!
Finally we see the building....and the 3 meter high fence all around it. It's noon now and because there's no traffic allowed in the city that day, the
streets are filled with children playing and people walking. It doesn't seem very promising. There are some basement windows at the street side and we try to get one of the windows open unseen...no luck! Should we climbed the fence regardless of all the people?
I roll myself a cigaret while we just stand there looking at the building. Hompa's hangover is getting really bad and he decides he has to lie down.
Then the front gate opens and some residents from the already converted buildings come walking out. Mrtnski and i look at each other...we have to decide quickly before the gate closes again. Hompa isn't getting up. "you guys go, i'll just be laying here".
We are on the premises now. We friendly greet some people who are looking at us and 10 minutes later we're in.
Inside the building we find a basement filled with bottled animal parts and the attic is stuffed with all sorts of old documents.
This place kicks ass!!!
