Crown of thorns flowers, with small wasp

The plant is most likely a species of Euphorbia, and the legend that it was the plant from which the crown of thorns worn by Jesus was constructed may be true. (I am not doubting that He wore such a crown, but we aren't certain that it was from this plant.) If so, that crown must have been excruciatingly painful.

There are thorns on these plants, and they are long and wicked-looking, but this photo doesn't show them. You can see some of the thorns here.
