redbud flowers, SC 81 (1)

Redbud (Cercis) flowers, along a South Carolina highway. The flowers aren't really red, but that's the common name. Also called Judas tree, possibly because Judas was thought to have hanged himself on one. The flowers show the connection to the Fabaceae, the pea family. Although bees love these flowers, which grow on small trees, I didn't get a photo of a bee this time. Too windy.

Isn't God a great artist? Thanks for looking.
