My grandfather noted about her (his grandmother) that she was the most beautiful and strongest of her siblings. When she was 17 (in 1866) she worked in Friedrichsdorf in the household of Philipp Reis, the inventor of the telephone. She often had to assist him pulling the wires from the house to the barn and listening to the sound transmissions. It is possible that she was one of the first persons Reis talked to on the phone.


Her husband died early - in 1878 - and she worked then as a seamstress with her parents caring for the children. In another century she might have become an engineer...
