Helvetica vs. Comic Sans
I went to this typographic gallery on friday, "Typeforce" and I left feeling rather depressed. In the mix of artisan work and my friend jokingly telling me I'm a shitty designer I felt somewhat uninspired and untouched by the work displayed. I wondered How the fuck did it get into a gallery - it wasn't even conceptual or clever. It did however show an excellent and advanced talent of artisanship.
I realized that I'm still young and I have to learn to walk before I run. I can't pressure myself to make designs to compete with professionals. I need to take a step down and take it easy. Start small. Stop using Helvetica. Akzidentz Grotesque is way better... :P
Anyway, on the way home I thought of this concept (the image up top).
I'm currently reading "How to be a graphic designer without loosing your soul" by Adrian Shaughnessy which has been extremely helpful and calming.
