The dissertation: an excursus on Eighteenth Century typography in Italy based upon an analysis of the type specimens issued by the foundries and printers. It is accompanied by a research into the technical development of the graphic arts (type design and manufacturing, typesetting and printing).

The specimens: we classified over 200 display faces from the specimens we found in the libraries throughout Italy.
