Creative Cardinals 2014-15
Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum exhibits the work of SVSU faculty and staff

The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum is hosting an exhibition titled Creative Cardinals, featuring the artistic work of Saginaw Valley State University faculty and staff Wednesday, Dec. 10 through Saturday, Jan. 17. This is the second Creative Cardinals exhibition the Museum has hosted in the past two years.

“There are many SVSU faculty and staff who are extremely talented outside their normal university responsibilities. We are proud to display the work of 25 of those creative people,” said Marilyn Wheaton, Museum Director.

Paintings, photographs, ceramic vessels, stained glass, graphic design, poetry, fiber arts, wood guitar, handmade cards, and macramé lawn chairs comprise the exhibition. All of the artists are employed by SVSU. (Please see attachment for complete lists of artists and titles of works.)

Craig Snook, assistant director of publishing services, Office of University Communications, entered two paintings in the exhibition, including Hidden Forest, which was installed in the 2014 ArtPrize in Grand Rapids along with the work of 1,500 other artists worldwide.

“The Creative Cardinals exhibition offers SVSU faculty members and staff an opportunity to show others what creative activities they do both inside and outside of their roles at the University,” Snook said. “It is amazing to see all the hidden talents this show has exposed.”

This exhibition is made possible with support from SVSU’s Office of the President.
