Slender Mining Bee (Lasioglossum (Evylaeus) calceatum)

    Newer Older

This year I've started to notice the real diversity in the bees that visit the garden, from the huge bombus, to the tiny yellow-faced bees. These aren't much bigger than the yellow-faced themselves, and have shown a real attraction to the rudbeckias that are still all in flower. Very cute little bees indeed. This is a male, as there are no pollen baskets, and the female has less red on the abdomen.
