Eucera ♂

Late in the afternoon, when the sun gets down and the temperature drops, solitary bees cannot fly anymore, so they have to find a suitable place to perch and spend the night. This male Eucera, known for his long antennae, chose a beautiful iris flower (Moraea sisyrinchium).

2nd place in the Wildlife Photography in Greece Photo of the Month competition for March 2012, in the "Invertebrates" category. Another photo of mine got 1st place, too :)
