    Small White (Pieris rapae).
    This is the species of butterfly that comes from the chrysalis I uploaded three days ago (see photo below, in the comments), also known as "Cabbage White" or "Small Cabbage White".

      Well Stavros one couldnt even compare mine to this elegant portrait of yours. No excuse mine really did look the same as yours in the flesh...The small flower makes your butterfly look huge.
      Yes we have just planted cabbages and cauliflowers and these guys are pretty prolific...

      Did you forget to look at the original? It's actually a high quality 2.5 megapixel image in excellent sharp focus. The grass stem in front does not obscure it significantly.
