Reveling the sun

Common Yellow Swallowtail (Papilio machaon)

(also known as Old World Swallowtail)

kingdom: Animalia, phylum: Arthropoda, subphylum: Hexapoda, class: Insecta, order: Lepidoptera, family: Papilionidae

This is my most perfect depiction of this species' wings, to date. I found this marvellous specimen, with flawless wings, basking in the rays of the autumn sun, perched atop a Sea Squill (Urginea maritima).
