Endangered

The Banggai Cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) is a popular aquarium fish. In the wild, this species is endemic to the Banggai Archipelago in eastern Indonesia, having an extremely limited geographic range. Unfortunately, collection for the aquarium trade in the last decade has threatened this species with extinction. Last year it was classified as Endangered by the IUCN: www.iucnredlist.org/search/details.php/63572/summ
