WP 7132 Jha Jha

Had it been discovered a decade earlier Jha Jha in the Bihar State of eastern India would have been a mecca for steam enthusiasts. In 1979 most freight was diesel, but all but the most prestigious expresses were still steam hauled, required an engine change and most southbound trains required banking over a low range of hills.

On the morning of 12 January 1979, WP 7132, built at the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, West Bengal in 1964, departs on 7UP Toofan Express with a WG 2-8-2 (out of picture) banking at the rear.
