South Australian byway

This broad gauge branch was at one time, until the early 1980s and gauge conversion of another route, the main interstate corrdor from Adelaide to Sydney.

By 1991 the only traffic remaining was grain, and the terminus of the line seemed to get wound back a station or two after every harvest.

ALCos 965/832 are seen hauling a Tarlee to Port Adelaide loaded grain on Sunday 15 December 1991 between Stockport and Hamley Bridge. The only access on this section was via the railway own perway track.
