Woolcalla wanderings

Three standard gauge EMD-powered products from Clyde Engineering, Sydney combine head no.7179 express goods from Port Augusta to Perth through the locality of Woolcalla, between Bookaloo and McLeay, on 12 August 1989.

Australian National's DL48 was not long 'out of the box' and the class represented the first use of the 710 power unit in Australia. This may well have been it's maiden run to the west.

The third unit, Westrail's L273 was temporarily in use on through working to South Australia to cover a loco shortages.
