Gunsynd

Fresh from the paint shop at Islington Works on 1 September 1999 was CFCL Australia's first repainted EL, EL57.

3000hp GE powered EL57 was built by Goninan's of Broadmeadow, New South Wales and delivered new to federally-owned Australian National in 1991. 8 years later it was sold to Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia following privatisation of the AN business.

As customary with CFCLA locos it was named after a famous

racehorse, in this case 'Gunsynd' which was Australia's champion for the 1972-1973 season.
