ALCo and EMD combine

Australian National Goodwin/ALCo 946 and Victorian Railways Clyde/EMD C507 roll an interstate broad gauge freight from Melbourne downgrade out of Sleeps Hill tunnel on their final run into Adelaide - sometime in 1985.

The South Australian Railways took delivery of 37 ALCo DL500Bs between 1955 and 1967, built under licence by AE Goodwin of Sydney. The first 6 were single enders, while the remainder also had a cab at the B end. Four remain in various stages of preservation, but only one of these is currently active.
