845 at Mile End

ALCo powered DL531 model no.845 was built in Australia by A E Goodwin of Sydney in 1963 for the South Australian Railways. Ownership passed from the state government operator to the federally owned Australian National in 1978.

It was one of the earlier examples of the 45 '830' class locos to gain the AN 'green and gold' livery.

845 was sold to Ed Burkhart's Australian Transport Network in 2000 with ownership passing a few years later to Pacific National. Stored for many years at Cootamundra, NSW, it has recently (2015) been handed over to South Australian based heritage organisation, Steamranger.
