515 at Gillman

There were 34 x 500 class diesel shunters constructed by the South Australian Railways at their own Islington Workshops in Adelaide and powered by English Electric 4SRKT engines. They entered services between 1964-69 and with a few exceptions most had been withdrawn by the early 1990s.

515 seen shunting at Gillman Yard, Port Adelaide on 13 April 1989, and is today preserved only a kilometre away at the National Railway Museum.
