There a few things I've seen in Japan that I think are truly Japanese and show a true love for the aesthetic (I've only been 3 times and never lived there so I'm sure there are more). These are: manhole covers, Taxi signs, Onigawara/roof tiles, warning signs (littering/smoking) and these construction barriers! They're just so cool and fun. I've never been anywhere that turns the utilitarian into art like the Japanese do. Love it!
