A sitting Jizo gathers much moss!
I'm always a sucker for some good moss and this path has hundreds of these fellas with snow around. heaven! Gamman-ga-fuchi Abyss in Nikko.
These statues are of Jizo - a goddess of abandoned and departed children, as well as a protector of travellers in Shinto, the national religion of Japan. People make offerings to the statues by clothing them in red. View On Black
