Castilleja unalaschensis (Chamisso & Schlechtendal) Malte
Castilleja unalaschensis is one of the characteristic native plant species of much of southern Alaska and the adjacent portions of the SW Yukon, from coastal sand dunes and flats up into the lower alpine regions of the mountain ranges. It probably evolved as a NW offbranch of the widespread species, C. septentrionalis of the Rocky Mountains, the NE United States, and eastern Canada, but it is sufficiently different to merit full species status.
