20130212 Ujjain - Mandu
Another tea stop along the road, on the way to Mandu this time. Next to the restaurant was a little primary school, with lots of cheerful and interesting wall paintings, both inside and outside.
Inside the classrooms there were things like tables of multiplication - not on charts hung on the wall (as they would be found in our schools) but neatly painted right onto the wall. On the outside cartoon-like paintings like this one next to each classroom;
note the text is in tree languages, each in their own script: the children will learn all of those. Here whatever the local language is, plus official languages Hindi and English. apart from the occasional bits of text in English, most of it is in Hindi - the children will learn both.
