Upper Bond Falls
A symphony of water abounds at the Bond Falls Scenic Site near Paulding, Michigan. The fractured rock in this area of the Ontonagon River makes for a spectacular set of falls. The main falls put on a more impressive show, but smaller falls and cascades that make up the upper falls have their own charm that drew me in.
I was talking to another photog while out there and it sounds like the state has done quite a bit of work to the site in the past few years. There’s a nice parking area and boardwalk around the falls that’s easily accessible. While the boardwalk is fenced off there are a few access points to get down to the water, which allows for a closer view of the falls or a quick dip of the feet in the water. The stairs to the upper falls are older, a bit rickety, and treacherous but provide access to this section of the river.
