The Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies promotes the study of contemporary global issues with special attention to Marian University's core Franciscan values. The interdisciplinary minor in global studies includes specially designed courses, foreign language study, study abroad experience, optional globally focused internships, and a one-week spring break internship in Senator Lugar's office in Washington, D.C.

The Global Studies Speaker Series and other public events bring central Indiana's increasingly international and multi-cultural community onto the Marian University campus. Past speakers have included international diplomats, journalists, academics, clergy, musicians, and global activists.
